Hill Country Peach Kuchen

Serves 8 to 10

  • Fresh Peaches 2 lbs, peeled and halved
  • All-Purpose Flour 1 ½ cups
  • Baking Powder 2 tsp
  • Salt ½ tsp
  • Nutmeg a pinch
  • Cardamom Powder ½ tsp
  • Ginger Powder ½ tsp
  • Butter ¼ cup
  • White Sugar 1 cup
  • Egg 1 large
  • Milk ½ cup
  • Powdered Sugar for dusting

Cook It

  1. Preheat the oven to 350˚F and generously butter a 3-quart baking dish.
  2. Whisk together the flour, salt, baking powder and spices.
  3. In a stand mixer, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Reduce the speed and beat in the egg and then the milk.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients and mix until blended.
  5. Scrape the batter into the baking dish and arrange the peach halves on top.
  6. Bake for 40 minutes, or until a cake tester comes out clean.
  7.  Alllow to cool for 15-20 minutes then dust with powdered sugar and serve.
